SINTEF is a broadly based, multidisciplinary research concern that possesses international top-level expertise in technology, medicine and the social sciences, and our aim is to become the most renowned contract research institution in Europe.

 

SINTEF is an independent, non-commercial organisation. The profits of our contract research projects are invested in new research, scientific equipment and competence development. In the course of the past five years, we have invested NOK 500 million of our own funds in laboratories and scientific equipment.

SINTEF Energi AS

SINTEF Energy Research is a non-profit organisation engaged in contract research in the national and international marketplace. We develop solutions related to power production and conversion, transmission/distribution and the end use of energy both onshore and offshore/subsea. We also cover key areas within the indoor climate, energy use in buildings, gas technology, combustion, bioenergy, environmental impacts, refrigeration engineering and technology for the food and nutrition industry. The Department for Electric Power Systems focusses on key research challenges related to renewable energies, offshore power solutions and smart electricity grids, all of which are of crucial for the realisation of future energy systems.
